Us at Acapulco

Life can be tough - we two at Acapulco

About Us

Brian Gall, BA, ALA, MILAM

(The last two qualifications lapsed years ago when I stopped paying the annual subscriptions, but who wants to nitpick?)

Born Kilmarnock, educated at schools in Motherwell and Dunoon and the universities of Edinburgh and Strathclyde. Held professional posts with local authorities in Lanarkshire and East Lothian. Reached the position of Director of Leisure and Tourism, then took early retirement when local government was reorganised for the umpteenth time and decided it could get on fine without me. Other jobs held at various times include petrol pump attendant, baker's van driver and most recently, hotel waiter.

Pauline Gall, ALA

Born Leeds, educated at schools in Cambuslang and Uddingston and the University of Strathclyde.

We've been married for over thirty years and have two grown up children. Before we retired we owned and ran a guest house for nearly ten years. Prior to that Brian was a local government chief officer for thirty years and Pauline was a housewife and mother. We were both Chartered Librarians and met when we worked together in Lanarkshire in the early 1970's.

We are both active members of Perth U3a (University of the Third Age). Pauline is a member of the Aberdeen and North East Scotland Family History Society and the carpet bowling group in Letham. Brian is a member (previously Chairman) of ByCycle, the Perth and Kinross Cycling Campaign; the Cyclists' Touring Club, British Trust for Ornithology and various wildlife groups.
